HP dv9207 Laptop
« on: December 31, 2008, 08:50:34 PM »
Hi,

If anyone has this laptop beware!!

We paid $1200 for this a little over a year ago. It was used maybe 6 months. About 3 days ago it died. I mean nothing, no power nothing.

We looked on line and they were having a recall for the same things but of course ours wasn't listed. We went to their Customer Support and saw where we aren't the only ones with this problem with the same model puter.

So we called and guess what. They basically said sorry about your luck and it will cost between $300-$500 to fix it. Hmmm how do they know if they haven't even seen it yet?? LOL I think they know what's wrong but don't want to eat another recall of computers!!

Sorry if anyone here works for HP!! LOL

So just be careful and look on line first before you buy a HP laptop to make sure it isn't on their lists lol!!

Funny you should say this. My computer is a Compaq/HP and for the first three years, I'd have a problem with it within days after the yearly anniversary and warranty expired then, it completely crashed on the fourth, although I do believe it was the ISP tech that did that.

We read on their support where they were giving free repairs to folks who had their puter for over 2 years. But because ours is a different model ( And plenty more folks like us) we have to pay an outrageous price to fix it. We even saw where someone with our model, out of warranty, -Same problem complained and they fixed his for alittle over $100. Now how fair is that?? LOL

You know I really despise HP products.. all of them. I stopped using their printer/fax/copiers after about the 20th one in a 5 year period and now I only buy Lexmark - I had ONE HP computer that died on me within 2 years of having it - then I got a CUSTOM one built by my local computer store.... that lasted me almost 10 years - it was old and getting really slow so I got a Dell - hate it. But it's all I could afford at the time. Next one will be another custom one from my puter guys for sure!! The only HP product in my house right now is my digital camera and I don't really care for it either. Takes crappy pics! LoL

HP Products - throw them out the window!! That's where they will end up anyway when the stop working! LoL

Same here!! Hubby builds all of our computers but we had decided to just go buy a laptop. I of course ended up with the HP. They rooked us bad on this whole mess.

Hubby has a dell and we had to replace the fan but has been a fairly good laptop.  Now we have to try and fix mine plus we were given a used one so hubby is gonna fix that.

We have no more HP products and never will!!!

We have two HP laptops and one hp desk top. The desk top is somewhere between 13 and 15 years old, maybe older. Not a problem from day one.

My laptop is 4 years old. After the first year, a couple day AFTER the warranty ran out, it had some problems that could be fixed over the phone. The second years about the same time of year, it went stupid again. It was fixed, once again over the phone. I do believe, these computers are programed to break at a certain time..

The third year, my computer completely crashed however, I do believe the tech that was installing our internet in this house, caused the problem. He had problems getting this computer to recognise the wireless. No problems since, knock on wood..

My wife's computer is 3 years old and haven't had a problem except recently. It no longer likes IE and will shut down. Works fine with MSN explorer. The tech believes she's picked up a virus when she opened one of those, "you won" emails. She knew it was bogus, but curiosity go the better of her. She's learn a hard lesson..

We also have 5 hp printers. One never worked from day one and hp sent us another to replace it. The other four work great. We also have an epson and lexmark wireless. These work great also.

We also have an hp scanner. Worked fine for a while but, doesn't now.

Think we like hp?? LOL
